To Gull Point and Beyond!

Hiking out to Gull Point in the winter is like the star portal in 2001: A Space Odyssey – transported involuntarily to places you don’t understand, where time has no meaning, after which you are ambiguously reborn as something beyond human comprehension. But first, it’s the long trip to Jupiter Budny Beach, starting with birds on Presque Isle Bay this past Saturday:

The owl looks so contented! Nothing like a good nap!

Not 100% sure, but seems like the gray-colored Eastern Screech-Owl sometimes seen high in a tree off Fisher Dr might also be the same one sometimes in the tree down from the PI Lighthouse. (It does look contented especially when it’s sunny.) Funny thing about the PI Lighthouse location is the tree is right by the road and the hole is at eye level – so you can see this owl even while driving by.
