Morning at Pintail (1)

No post yesterday due to delays in the photo editing department, but kicking it into high gear today with the first of several posts @ Pintail Lake (& Allen Severson Memorial Wildlife Area) outside Show Low, Arizona, back in August:

Juniper Titmouse

Cooper’s Hawk
Juniper Titmouse III
Cooper’s Hawk II
Brewer’s Sparrow
Female Blue Grosbeak
Brewer’s Sparrow II

Mostly, this area is a flat, high elevation volcanic plane with many, many juniper trees:

It’s also the site of a shallow lake complex, Pintail Lake, partially fed with treated wastewater from Show Low. Making for great habitat for amazing birds like this White-faced Ibis:

White-faced Ibis (adult, non-breeding plumage)
Juniper Titmouse IV
Female Blue Grosbeak II
Ibis II
Lazuli Bunting (m, top) w/ sparrow (unknown species, bottom)
Lark Sparrow
Ibis III
Chipping Sparrow
Volcanic plane w/ junipers
Ibis IV

Lark Sparrow II
Ibis V

Ibis VI

Finally for today, a really nice shot of White-faced Ibis in flight, showing the lovely coloration and metallic sheen:
