Back to a lovely weekend at Presque Isle State Park and more from October Big Day, featuring the “uncommon bird of the (big) day,” a beautiful, seldom seen Blue-headed Vireo high in the trees along the Pine Tree Trail:
Also, from Sunday (generally the same location), a much more common and very cute Chipping Sparrow:
The Vireo is so cute! In one photo it looks like it is flirting!
And of course the Sparrow is lovely! Always fun to see it!
Blue-headed Vireo does not show up as ‘rare’ on the eBird list for Erie Co. this time of year, but they are few and far between. More “heard than seen,” high up in the foliage.
