Hitting The Beach

What else to do on a hot/humid Saturday in July in Erie County, Pennsylvania than to hit the beach at Presque Isle State Park? A muddy, bayside beach for nature photography, of course. All photos (i) Least Sandpiper; (ii) Killdeer; & (iii) probably Red-spotted Purple (Limenitis arthemis) butterfly.

This team member was on another beach and saw nothing but beautiful human bodies. No butterflies on them!

Butterflies are rather fast moving. Very surprising how fast and erratic they can fly. This was just luck since the butterfly in question was sometimes perching still on the beach. (We have more Monarch content forthcoming. w/ pretty flowers. Stay tuned!)
