Blackpoll @ Leo’s

Other than extremely bad weather Saturday morning, it was a nice holiday weekend in western Pennsylvania, with great birding both Sunday and Monday. (Stay turned for Gull Point + plenty more migration activity.) These shots are from the other day at Leo’s Landing at Presque Isle State Park, featuring the “other black-and-white warbler,” Blackpoll Warbler:

Male Blackpoll Warbler
Female Blackpoll Warbler
Double-crested Cormorants @ outline against sky
Greate Blue Heron
Immature American Robin
Yellow Warbler
GBH II
Immature Robin II
Shady Bay-breasted Warbler
Magnolia Warbler
Warbling Vireo
Magnolia Warbler II

Anecdotally, as of yesterday at Presque Isle State Park, lots of activity especially w/ Bay-breasted Warbler and Swainson’s Thrush, e.g., 7-8 of the latter seen along the Duck Pond Trail alone. Probably peak migration for heading up to Canada.
