Back to Wilcox, Arizona, where the main nature attraction (close to town) is Cochise Lake and the adjacent ponds/wetlands @ Twin Lakes Golf Course. These shots of the latter, answering the question of “where are all the American Wigeons?” (Answer: mostly in Arizona, apparently.)

Finally, a couple “bonus American Wigeon,” a bit closer up, from the day before elsewhere/nearby in southern Arizona:

Coming up soon, lots of birds at Cochise Lake!
We cats do not appreciate your saying we are out to get birds. We are friends of birds. We love them! Yummy! Look at all those birds, and there are just two of us! Obviously you are biased.
Those domestic house cats (yes, it really is Felis catus as the Latin name) did not seem emaciated/suffering. Obviously they are getting food somewhere. And whatever the source, there did not seem to be a lack of birds at Twin Lakes.
