Looking for Bendire (2)

Part 2/2 of bird content at Fort Lowell Park in Tucson, Arizona, featuring (unless otherwise noted) Vermilion Flycatcher:

Northern Yellow Warbler
Yellow Warbler II

Nice sequence of a female Vermilion Flycatcher eating a just-caught dragonfly:

Wilson’s Warbler
Wilson’s Warbler II
Black Phoebe
Red-tailed Hawk

Sadly, despite best efforts, no Bendire’s Thrashers were spotted!

tsk, tsk. Not giving Charlie E. B. proper ranking!

The Bendire’s thrasher (Toxostoma bendirei) is named in honor of Major Charles E. Bendire, a U.S. Army officer and ornithologist who collected the first specimen of the species in 1872 near Fort Lowell, Arizona
