Sunny but “not warm” yesterday in Erie County, Pennsylvania, so seemingly much less overt warbler activity than Saturday. In today’s post, taking a quick break from migration activity with a beautiful male Mallard landing at South Pier, from last week:

Fantastic! You caught everything in this photo essay. Cute how the duck has its beak open just after landing. Telling others that it had arrived?? Loved the shot of it looking directly at you!
It was a nice happenstance where the Mallard landed in the channel very close to the edge of the pier.
PS: don’t get the cartoon……huh?
They’re looking at a pair of Mallards, neither of which, obviously, is a Tundra Swan. The man is offended that the woman thinks he is confusing a male Mallard for a Tundra Swan, when in actuality he’s just as much of a doofus for confusing a female Mallard for a Tundra Swan. Although at least a female Mallard is sort of monochromatic like a Tundra Swan.
