The weather’s so bad in Pennsylvania today they did the unspeakable – preemptively close every state wine/liquor store! Happily, the BirdingPI.com supplies cabinet is well stocked with something way more important: black coffee and lots of it.

In today’s post, taking a break (temporarily) from ducks/South Pier with a beautiful Golden-crowned Kinglet yesterday in the pine woods at Presque Isle State Park. (Weather yesterday: sunny, temps around 9-10 deg F.) This individual perhaps the largest/fluffiest Kinglet we’ve ever seen.

Wow! Great rump shots!
You didn’t leave the key for the liquor cabinet in the usual place, Team Leader….coffee don’t hack it!
Liquor stores still closed this morning – obviously the concern was for Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, since it’s always this snowy in Erie.
From Mrs. Edwards:
What a cute fat bird! Very pretty posterior feathers!
Yes, very cute, very large for a kinglet – obviously well geared for the cold weather.
