End of Season

In honour of our fallen feathered friends, we mark the end of northwest Pennsylvania duck hunting season today with late-December content featuring beautiful American Black Ducks on Niagara Pond at Presque Isle State Park:

Also MIF (Mallards in flight):

Form factors (e.g., size) of American Black Duck and Mallard almost identical, but much darker colouring on the former, especially when seen at a distance:

As a hungry hunter, I apreciate the lip-smacking taste of the ducks who gave up their lives for me and my family. Thank you!

Ducks are reportedly tasty, but we wouldn’t know anything about that here at BirdingPI.com. In any event, any editorial ambiguity about duck hunting has less to do with killing/eating ducks (if managed responsibly) and more to do with all the commotion (gun fire, etc.)
