The Penultimate

On this penultimate day of fall 2025, let’s go back several months to the penultimate day of summer, with warmer/sunnier bird content at Leo’s Landing at Presque Isle State Park. Also, more Cooper’s Hawk!

Great Egret
Belted Kingfisher
Common Raven (l) + Cooper’s Hawk (r)
Common Raven in flight
2 Ravens perched on snag at Leo’s Landing
Quite unusually, 3 Ravens
2 Wood Ducks (one is behind the other)
3 Wood Ducks
On the sandbar – Canada Geese, Double-crested Cormorant, misc gulls, & Common Tern

Reminder that tomorrow (Saturday) is the Erie County Christmas Bird Count – convene by 7:45AM at shelter 2 at Presque Isle State Park, @ The Waterworks. Here’s hoping for better weather!

Ah, the good old days of warm weather! Lovely photo essay! Nice to think back to when it was warm and sunny! Kind of like Tucson has been this fall, and the first day of ‘winter’!!!
