So the Brown Pelican’s still around the Erie, PA bayfront area – multiple reported sightings yesterday both by Dobbins Landing (downtown Erie marina) and South Pier. These shots continue from the day after Thanksgiving at South Pier, under fairly uneven/challenging lighting conditions. WARNING: some nature-themed content (albeit not involving blood, violence, spiders, or snakes) may not be suitable for all viewers.

Happy Friday, happy nature!
Questions: is this normal for a P to be hanging around Erie? Will it be heading somewhere else soon? Good study of its flight pattern.
It’s not normal territory for pelicans (either white or brown), so anecdotally, pelicans seen in Erie are very transitory, e.g., perhaps seen as just a ‘flyover.’ Quite unusual for a Brown Pelican to remain in the area for so long. There were concerns it was in distress, but reports have indicated it is active (bathing, flying, etc.) and thereby probably healthy.
