In today’s post, reporting on a quick stop at Big Pool and Fort Frederick State Park in western Maryland, part of the historic C&O Canal complex. Lots of interesting history, lots of interesting nature.
Nice shots! Big Pool is beautiful! And the birds are cute, too!
Big Pool is adjacent the C&O Canal tow path, which is in turn adjacent (sort of) to the Potomac. Probably boats were towed along Big Pool (guess they would have used lines/horses) for moving between sections of canal. Or something like that. Anyway, there was a canal and a tow path, and now it’s all state park and bike trails and a nice spot for nature.
